Small Quilt Groups

Several small groups of NWQ members exist, friends who meet regularly to share their common interest in quilt making.
NWQ has no authority over any of these groups, each of which is completely independent.
Check with a group’s contact person before attending to ensure it is still meeting.
The most up-to-date listing of groups is provided below.

Contact Dawn Sharafi, Small Quilt Groups Chair, at dawnsharafi@hotmail.com or 503-703-5405
for more information about small groups, to get help in starting a new group, or to find a group to join.

A Stitch in Time

Our group is having a great time learning new techniques and sharing finishes. Our stitching time together is handwork of some sort because we meet in a variety of members’ homes. Bring your own lunch and hostess will provide refreshments and a dessert. Meetings: First and third Thursdays of the month in members’ homes from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The group is currently at capacity, but please contact Evelyn Eason to be added to the waiting list at emequilts@comcast.net or (281) 658-8296.

EQ Users (Virtual)

EQ (Electric Quilt Software) is a wonderful tool. You can use it to re-color an existing pattern to see how you like the results before cutting your fabric, or you can design your own blocks and quilts. If you have already purchased EQ8, or plan to purchase soon and would like some help and motivation to use it more effectively, join us! Contact: Denise Gies, (503) 407-0856 or scraphappydenise@gmail.com

Fabricators

While many of us have known each other for 20 years, there is still room for new folks. Most of what we do when we meet is quiet hand work such as stitching or knitting. We meet at Sharon's Attic, 2950 SW Cornelius Pass Rd #100, Hillsboro, OR 97003, on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Contact: Carrie Perkins, Home (503) 643-4919, Cell (503) 880-3579.

Free Motion Quilt Group

This group is for anyone interested in learning, sharing, or practicing your free-motion quilting skills. This includes users of both domestic and long arm machines but does not include computer generated design.  All skill levels are welcome! There is always more to learn and improve on. Usually, one machine is set up for demo and practice. We will share quilting designs and techniques. Members may bring unquilted and quilted projects to show which we will discuss for inspiration and learning purposes.
