The Jellybean Factory is a biennial event on the NWQ calendar, a morning meeting presented by the Comforting Quilts committee. We will have two aims: to have a sociable, fun morning of sewing, and to make a start on a sizable number of the nearly 700 lap quilts that have been requested by five of the local agencies we are currently supporting.
The lap quilts, that will finish to be 44" square, use one of our tried and tested CQ patterns, Surrounded Squares. We have prepared kits that each use just two fabrics and every piece has been pre-cut. Each kit contains a ready made back and batting will be available. This is because we ask that the kits be returned to us as finished lap quilts ready to be donated. For members who don't want to make a complete quilt, we'll have lap back kits, also with all the pieces pre-cut. For those members who don't want to tote a machine there will be other sewing opportunities, such as hemming the binding on quilts that have been longarmed. We'll also need pressers, and runners to take pieced units from machines to ironing boards.
By 20th October, there will be a registration process set up on the website. There will be a limit on the number of machinists we can accommodate so please reserve your seat!
